About Barely Functioning
Barely Functioning was created by someone who lives at the crossroads between ADHD and Autism, often referred to as AuDHD. I know firsthand how exhausting, confusing and isolating it can feel.
There is lots of information out there about these conditions, but it can all be overwhelming. The aim of Barely Functioning is to bring some of this content together and make it easy to understand and digest, along with some useful tools to help get through.
Like many neurodivergent adults, I spent years masking, burning out and starting things enthusiastically only to then abandon them halfway through. I was in my mid thirties when I was diagnosed, so didn’t understand why I felt exhausted or why I was ‘different’ to other people.
I’ve struggles with executive dysfunction, emotional overwhelm and rejection sensitive disorder. This has caused me to lack confidence in my life, and struggle with anxiety and depression.
If you’re autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, questioning, burned out, late diagnosed, self-identified of just trying to find out more, you’re not alone. Hopefully this site will be able to help, even if only in just a small way.
And, if you’re only Barely Functioning, that’s enough.
